Ashley Butcher
Ashley found her true passion early on — volleyball! She grew up playing the sport year-round, from YMCA leagues to club teams, all the way through college. Along the way, she played for both Alamo and Strikers Volleyball Clubs. When she got to UTSA, she joined the college club team and even switched positions from Middle Blocker to Setter — a change that helped her see the game from a whole new perspective.
Ashley is now in her 12th year teaching elementary school in NEISD. She graduated from the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2012 and has always loved working with kids, helping them grow into kind, responsible young people.
Even though she loves teaching, Ashley never forgot her first love — volleyball. In 2017, she decided to start coaching, blending her passion for the game with her love of teaching and mentoring. She truly enjoys being a positive role model that students and athletes can trust and learn from. Ashley helped coach the 17 Blaze (2021–2022) and 18 Blaze (2022–2023) teams to back-to-back bids to USAV Nationals, one of her proudest accomplishments as a coach!
When summer rolls around, you can usually find Ashley in Austin working at the UT volleyball camp, sharing her enthusiasm for the sport with players of all ages.
